Mencius Chinese Academy - Best Chinese Classes in Phoenix

Our adult Chinese language and culture training programs currently have two levels.

Beginner level: a typical session runs for 8 weeks. We use our unique "situation based" language and culture teaching methodology to maximize the students learning efficiency. We developed our own training material. The goal is 1) to build up a basic vocabulary sufficient for conversation in Mandarin. 2) to be able to read and write some limited Chinese characters (simplified). 3) to gain some understanding of Chinese culture. We can offer this level training with minimum 5 students. We do not allow more than 15 students in this class.

Intermediate level: our intermediate level course is customized for each session, because the student's Chinese level can vary. The goals vary slightly. However, this course still emphasizes on listening and oral Chinese. We put more weight on reading Chinese characters and some requirements on writing Chinese characters. The training textbook is based on "Integrated Chinese" Level 1, Part II. The minimum class size is 4. We do not allow more than 10 students in this class.

Adult Beginner's Chinese (1.5 hour each lesson, 8-Week Session)
Tuition: $180; Textbook & CD fee: Beginner’s Chinese $15.

Chandler Location:1989 W. Elliot Rd. Suite 27, Chandler, AZ 85224.
Class meets on Mondays 6:00- 7:30 pm, beginning August 9, 2010.

Phoenix location: 4040 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85008.
Class meets on Thursdays 6:00 - 7:30 pm, beginning August 12, 2010.

Scottsdale Location: 7440 E. Sutton Dr. Scottsdale, AZ 85260
Class meets on Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:30 pm, beginning August 10, 2010.

Course Objectives:
(1) To establish a vocabulary sufficient for basic conversation in Mandarin.
(2) To develop reading and writing proficiency in Chinese Pinyin.
(3) To achieve a basic understanding of Chinese culture.
Course Requirements:
The Adult Beginner’s Class does not require any Chinese language and culture background.

For all classes, a 5 student minimum enrollment required.
